Bluntness: define as the maturity of the particle in a abrasion process

Satelity: define as the proportion of the particle to be removed for having a smooth shape.

The Zephyr digital particle image analyzer
represents a true breakthrough in particle characterization analysis.Recent innovations, backed by years of research conducted in cooperation with the University De Liege, in Belgium, have solved some most of the complex problems, in particle transport, presentation, and characterization.

Using a combination of a programmable vibrating feeder, and or vacuum dispersion system, powders and solids are moved effortlessly past the telecentric lens of a powerful high speed camera, and analyzed in real time.

Image boundaries are enhanced by flashing a monochromatic (single hue) collimated (parrallel beam) light source from behind the sample.



The Zepyr ESR,(ABOVE) is now available with a flow cell option, (BELOW) allowing for the automatic analysis of particles in liquids. Total dissolved solids can be counted, as well as analyzed.
This specially engineered ,'FLOWCELL' , for particle analysis in liquids, or suspensions, is comprised of dual plane glass slides, with adjustable distance configuration, based on the particle sizes being analyzed. During the video presentation, the mono chromatic collimated back light can be seen flashing simultaneoulsy, along with the operation of the camera .

Extensive research has shown that specific wave lengths of backlight, in the blue spectrum, produce optimal conditions for enhancing particle definition. The hue can be adjusted relative to the particles reflectivity properties, as well as all other variables  
WHAT ABOUT SIEVE CORRELATION
Sieving is not the most precise science in the world, although it makes particle size distribution analysis, feasible for most companies, because of its' affordability. The amount of time required to sieve a sample to it's endpoint is largely dependant on the samples properties. Cohesive samples tend to agglomorate, and elongated particles require more time to find their way through an aperture. Never the less, it is the preferred method because of cost and simplicity.
Because the ZEPHYR has the capability to distinguish multiple particle charcateristics, such as particle length, and even density, it can also be used to conduct a near perfect correlation to sieve analysis. The sieve tolorence specifications have to be added to the formula for most meaningful results.

PARAMETERS FOR PARTICLE DEFINITION USING THE ZEPHYR
This Endecotts Ocatagon Sieve Shaker
was designed to reproduce results from other sieve shakers, by offering programmable motion parameters.
This vacuum dispersion
device, (Shown on MODEL NANO 500) is used to place very small particles, in tact, gently on to a glass slide, where it can be analyzed.
